The display, which has been a staple of the neighborhood’s holiday spirit, will no longer feature Santa and Mrs. Claus due to this tragic loss. His wife, who shared the news, is mourning deeply and has asked for space during this difficult time.
Many in the community have shared their heartfelt condolences and memories of the beloved Santa. One neighbor recalled visiting the display just days ago, where Santa, sitting in his sleigh, joyfully greeted visitors with his signature “Merry Christmas!”
“This is heartbreaking,” another neighbor shared. “He brought so much joy to everyone who came by. My heart goes out to his family.”
To help with expenses during this challenging time, the family has begun selling homemade banana bread from 5:30 to 8:00 PM at the display location. Visitors can also make donations in a Santa letterbox placed at the display on 5901 NE Albany Ave, KCMO 64119
Additionally, after the holidays, the family plans to sell the holiday lights and decorations that have made their display a neighborhood treasure. Supporters have already begun organizing efforts to assist, including setting up a Cash App account to collect donations.
The family has three adult children who are also grieving this loss. Local residents are encouraged to visit the home, support the fundraiser, or contribute to the ongoing efforts to provide assistance.
One community member has reached out to local news outlets to spread the word. "I’ll be doing everything I possibly can to help them," they said. "Anyone who can’t visit in person but would like to help can message me."
For those wishing to donate directly via Cash App, details will be shared soon. This outpouring of love and support reflects the impact the beloved Santa had on the lives of so many, making the holiday season brighter for everyone who stopped by.
Let’s rally together to honor his memory and support his family during this time of need. ❤️
