KCK Liquor Store Killing Suspect Arrested in Gladstone

 


Gladstone, MO - A significant police presence descended upon the area of Shady Lane and N. Michigan Avenue in Gladstone Yesterday, centered around Meadowbrook Elementary School. The scene unfolded following a pursuit involving Kansas City and Gladstone police departments, connected to the recent killing of a liquor store owner south of the river in Kansas City. That victim was 64-year-old Zulfiqar Ladhani, known as “Joe.” was shot outside his store, Joe’s Liquor & Convenience Store, on February 12th. According to reporting by KCTV 5, Police were initially dispatched to a house in Kansas city, KS on a tip, but our sources indicate that the suspect was ultimately arrested in Gladstone. 

According to eyewitness reports, including statements from local Gladstone resident Marsha Herndon, the incident began with a chase involving the suspect linked to the liquor store homicide. Police vehicles from both jurisdictions, numbering between 8 to 10 units, were observed on-site. The situation escalated when law enforcement deployed a flash-bang grenade, causing a loud disturbance in the area.

"My husband talked to a policeman," said Marsha Herndon, who witnessed the events unfold. "It was extremely loud." Herndon also described the tense moments when the suspect's wife or girlfriend, present in the truck at Shady Lane and N. Michigan, was heard screaming, presumably under the impression that the suspect had been shot by police.

The incident drew immediate attention from local residents and the community, with concerns heightened due to its proximity to Meadowbrook Elementary School. Authorities have yet to release further details about the suspect's apprehension or any injuries sustained during the operation.
